The Scottish Volleyball Association (SVA) have worked hard to build a sustainable model for the CEV Schools Project centred on the ‘Play Volleyball, Grow with It’ slogan. SVA staff have already been working with young leaders from Drummond CHS who supported both the launch event on Wednesday and a future MACvolley NetSetGo primary festival. The project also engages with local club Jets who will work with the SVA to develop a Local Development Officer (LDO) who will act as a club link to the high school, cluster primary schools, active schools and Lynne Beattie who is the Regional Development Officer for the East.

The NetSetGo CEV Schools Project is set to launch further activities with projects linked to Perth High School, Kinross High School and in the west with Straven Academy and its cluster primaries, Perth & Kinross Volleyball Club and Glasgow Mets providing the club links and LDO support.

The Scottish Volleyball Association express huge thanks to the CEV and its development team for providing these opportunities, which enable each of the primary school to receive six volleyballs, the link high schools to receive six volleyballs plus a net and to access all of the other benefits of the programme in its entirety.

sportscotland have also played a pivotal role in establishing the programme and continue to support its ongoing delivery and development.

Regional Development Officer East, Lynne Beattie, herself an Olympic and Commonwealth Games athlete: “I am extremely excited for the launch of the Drummond CHS CEV Schools Project.  Schools are at the heart of a lot of the work we do, and it is great to work closely with a school like Drummond CHS, who invest an incredible amount of work to develop Volleyball with their pupils and their teachers too.  We want to extend that to their surrounding primary schools to create a robust and sustainable pathway from primary age players all the way through to secondary school age, with the opportunity for all players to then join the local Volleyball club Jets VC, who will lead the coaching and the promotion of the project in the area.  We have engaged the Drummond CHS Sports Leaders in the project and put them through their SVA Leadership Award, so they are fully equipped to support the project long term.”
