CEV School Project participants on the rise in Gibraltar

In February, the Gibraltar Volleyball Association (GVA) further expanded activities run in conjunction with the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ by working with local schools, delivering tournaments as well as extracurricular activities for children.

An open mini volleyball tournament was organised, with most of the participants children from the CEV School Project, even though there were senior teams as well. The tournament was held in Westside school. Work continued in February at St Joseph’s Upper Primary school too, where a six-week programme finished with the delivery of another two classes.

Work in lunchtime club at the two major comprehensive schools Bayside and Westside has continued with much success. The number of participants in Westside has increased significantly, especially on the female side, and the GVA hope that next year they will create a new club of girls from this school.

March should be very busy as most schools in Gibraltar have Volleyball in their curriculum. GVA has an agreement with schools so that professional trainers can help local teachers with the delivery of volleyball activities.
