The year 2023 started with a bang for Luxembourg’s Volleyball family as both the men’s and women’s national teams claimed top honours from the annual Novotel Cup held in early January in the Grand Duchy. Many young players took to the court for the ‘Red Lions’ and ‘Red Lionesses’ – and the women’s team included as many as 10 players under the age of 18. Despite this lack of experience, Team Luxembourg performed very well and edged opponents from Germany, England, and Ireland in the process.

When it comes to the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’, the first practices were delivered for the students from a school in the southern section of the country. In Differdange, the kids from the local school had the opportunity to learn the ABC of Volleyball with the help of three different coaches from the national team. They started mid-January and are now three weeks into the lessons with three more weeks to follow in February. Kids, teachers, as well as coaches are all equally excited to see what the next practices will bring and where this journey will be taking them.
