Beach Volleyball ‘Mecca’ Baden hosts seminar for CEV Candidate Supervisors

Apart from hosting the highly successful 1-Star World Tour event that ended on Monday with an Austrian triumph and the 2019 edition of the CEV U18 Beach Volleyball European Championship later this week, Baden is playing host to a seminar addressed to CEV Beach Volleyball Candidate Supervisors from as many as 12 countries.

The seminar runs from June 10 to 12 and on Monday, the attendees enjoyed the opportunity to feel the great atmosphere of the centre court at Strandbad – with a full house rooting for home heroes Clemens Doppler and Alexander Horst as they secured their second straight gold medal on home sand.
Baden is providing the ideal location for such a seminar, since it has been home to international Beach Volleyball competitions for 15 years now and the 1-Star tournament and upcoming #EuroBeachVolleyU18 account for the opportunity to organise practical sessions with a focus on venue homologation, VIS as well as the delivery of the medal ceremony.

Two experienced members of the European Beach Volleyball Commission, Mr Oguz Degirmenci and Mrs Bojana Dukic, as well as FIVB / CEV Beach Volleyball Supervisor Joep van Iersel and FIVB / CEV Referee Delegate Heinz Tschumi are delivering a series of lectures together with representatives of the CEV Beach Volleyball Department for the attendees to familiarise with a number of key topics. These include the role of and duties of CEV Technical Supervisors, the CEV Regulatory Framework, competition formats, forms and procedures, etc.

The seminar will end on Wednesday morning with the last session, including a test / questionnaire. Candidate Supervisors from the following countries are attending the workshop in Baden: England, Germany, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Norway, Russia, Scotland, Slovenia and Sweden.

This action testifies once more the CEV’s commitment to educate officials and representatives of National Federations in order to raise the level and quality of event delivery across the whole spectrum of CEV Beach Volleyball competitions.
