Thomas Dowens, former Scottish Volleyball Association Director of Coaching and former Scotland senior men’s national Volleyball team head coach, is among the recipients of the Member of the British Empire (MBE) in the Queen’s 2019 New Year’s Honours list.
“It is a great honour for Thomas, his family, Su Ragazzi Volleyball Club and Scottish Volleyball. Congratulations from all at Scottish Volleyball,” said the CEO of the Scottish Volleyball Association and CEV Vice President, Ms Margaret Ann Fleming, herself the recipient of an MBE earlier this year.
The award to Mr Dowens is further testament to the tremendous work done by Scottish Volleyball to grow the game at the grassroots level and through participation in a number of projects and international activities. Dowens (pictured above at his farewell party) retired from the Scottish Volleyball Association earlier this year after 18 years of service.
