SCD Junior Beach Volleyball Finals Day One

Today 19 teams took part in the inaugural Small Countries Division Junior Beach gallery_view_lm_0055788Volleyball Tournament in Portobello, Edinburgh.

After some tentative starts from the teams, most experiencing their first International Beach Volleyball tournament, the players all upped their game and put on fantastic displays of competitive sport which was watched by nearly 10,000 people on the promenade for the Annual Busking Day, Sandcastle competition and Beach Volleyball Scotland Tour Finals.

England Women opened up the competition against Scotland #5 seeds Munoz/Leavenworth. The English girls are well trained, disciplined and full of talent. The Scottish girls gave them a run for their money but couldn’t break their Southern counterparts down.

Fraser and Mexson opened up the Men’s Competition with a straight sets win against their Scottish counterparts Reid/Stenhouse.

Some great performances by all Federations throughout the day set us up with the Quarter Finals in the Women’s competition and Semi Finals in the Men’s Competition for Sunday morning.

It was great to see the teams really give their all on Day One, which certainly makes tomorrow very exciting for all involved.
